Spring has sprung

Spring has finally sprung and as we start to enjoy lighter mornings and longer days we are also getting very excited about the completion of our Orangery. Our much talked about project is coming on in leaps and bounds and in just a few weeks the work will be complete. What stood before us 3 months ago has now been completely redeveloped into a spectacular venue licensed for civil ceremonies and the perfect setting for special occasions.

Also with the weather improving we are starting to look towards the summer months and as we continue to offer great value lunches in our restaurant we are also developing our al fresco menus and hot sandwiches to be enjoyed in our pergolas.

The warmer weather also brings the start of the Bowland Festival, which runs through to the end of July and includes walks, art workshops and even an Ugly Bug Ball!

And so, with all this to look forward to we are offering a 3 night Spring Break to get you relaxed and in the mood for summer before those lazy, hazy days become jam packed with things to see and do!

On Time

The only benefit of this icy and snowy spell is that it is not delaying the building work on the Orangery, which will be finished on time for Easter.

For those of you have read the Lancashire Evening Post this week, you may have seen an article on the cast iron pillars that have been installed into the Orangery. Janet rescued the six pillars from Preston’s Public Hall when it was being demolished 1989 and has long since been waiting for the opportunity to use them at the hotel. Janet has great memories of the Public Hall from remembering her parents having a stall under the veranda; to attending dances and even seeing Vera Lynn perform.

Gibbon Bridge is also home to a number of reclaimed architectural features including church stone masonry from St Michael and All Angels at Bastwell in Blackburn.

The New Orangery

The building of our new Orangery is going as planned and we all remain excited about it's development. It is primarily being built to hold civil wedding ceremonies when the weather doesn’t allow us to use the Bandstand. The Orangery will be a stylish mix of contemporary and traditional – the room will feature large windows which will open onto the garden, cast iron Victorian pillars reclaimed from a local historic building and antique rugs will cover the travertine limestone floor.

Generally the hotel is continuing to be busy with many guests taking advantage of the £5 gift voucher from our Newsletter or given to them during the festive season. Our New Year Special break is also proving to be successful, as with our Champagne Saturdays. For those of you who have not planned your Valentine's evening take a look at our special rates and choose the Gibbon Bridge for your romantic retreat.

Blooming Good Food, Blooming Good Views

Summer certainly brings out the best at the Gibbon Bridge. It’s always a busy time for the team, as many of our guests return to sample our new summer menus and to see our beautiful gardens in their full glory. Howard once again has produced the many colourful hanging baskets and flower filled tubs which are now in situe around the grounds. It also looks as though we will have an abundence of fruit and veg from our gardens this year, which always pleases the kitchen and bakery. Our gardening days are full, so if you didn't manage to book a space this time please make a note for next year. In fact, to avoid disappointment whatever you are booking we always recommend that you make a reservation even if you just want to relax in the gardens and choose from our “Hot Sandwich Menu”.
For those of you who would like to come and stay, take a look at our 3 days summer offer on our website. It offers great value and an upgrade to a suite.
